In the spring addition of the Georgia Southern Magazine, an article called “Road Warrior” was very interesting. Written by Mary Beth Spence, the article features a GSU alumni who is going far in his career. Dustin Evans grew up on a farm, and started playing baseball when he was five years old. He started pitching when he was fourteen. While at Georgia Southern University, Evans was named Top Prospect by Baseball America. He also earned the title of SoCon Pitcher of the Week at one point. In 2006, Evans was drafted for the Braves. Now however, he is currently working for the Seattle Mariners as a major league talent scout.
This article was very enlightening to other undergraduate students, myself included. Although I am not a baseball professional, it was nice to read about other Eagles who were continuing their careers. The target for this article was other publics of Georgia Southern University. It provided a fun story for professors and students alike to enjoy and gain inspiration from.
