It’s hard to describe a normal day for an intern at a small Public Relations agency.  Every day is so different from the last.  While managing the day to day activities, I am running two major projects.  My hours are insane and I never seem to finish everything I was aiming for by the time Friday rolls around. To give you a little idea of what I am talking about, I will give you a breakdown of how today has gone for me:

8:00 a.m.: I scan the paper every morning to see if any of my articles have made it (while I enjoy my breakfast and coffee).

8:30 a.m.: Go over RADAR with Ms. Young: This is a running list of all of our clients, and what is going on for each one.  We decide what must be done right away, and plan the rest of our week out.

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Write press releases, manage emails, coordinate new stories, etc.

1:00-6:00 p.m.: Continue to work on the morning activities. Start working on major projects: Mission:PR MIXER and Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society ebook.

Depending on the day, I may take a dinner break and get back to work around 7 p.m.  I am also in charge of Ms. Young’s Facebook account ( and must post something between the times of 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. This is apparently the times when the majority of people are actively using Facebook .

On top of my duties for Carriage Trade PR, Inc, I have taken over as Chief Communications Officer at Wright Security Systems, Inc.  I am creating a website, and managing a Facebook page ( focused on providing safety tips, crime stories, and introducing new security technology to the family, friends and fans of Wright Security Systems.  In June, Wright Security will be celebrating their 25th anniversary, and I will be coordinating something to commemorate the milestone.

It is a lot of hard work, but I have had so much fun doing it.  It really is a rush when you start rolling with work.
